The Limbo (1997-1999)

The desire to foster a refreshing outlet within the conservatively stereotypical Korean traditional dance community led Yanghee Lee to found a dance project group 'Limbo' in 1997. As an intimate, intelligent, connected group of emerging artists,The Limbo pursued experimental works of music, performance, and installation art in a creative, non-traditional theater setting as one of the pioneer of Korean independent artists. The 1990s Korean art scene was an innovative stage in which an increasing number of artists rose against restrictive Korean art industry to independently produce individual artworks. The Limbo subsequently held performances at “The Underground Club” and “Pang Club” from 1997 to 1999.
